The Anna Politkovskaya Museum is the office at Novaya Gazeta where the journalist, murdered in 2006, worked. The room held Politkovskaya’s computer, letters addressed to her at the newsroom, personal belongings, and the restored memorial plaque from the building on Lesnaya Street where Politkovskaya was shot (the original plaque was smashed). This photo was taken in 2021, when Novaya Gazeta had just opened the Politkovskaya Museum.

On October 30, Novaya Gazeta announced that it was closing: it had been evicted from the building where its newsroom had worked for several decades. The Politkovskaya Museum will close along with Novaya.
