Russia is testing the possibility of exporting grain through the Arctic port of Murmansk as the traditional Black Sea route has been virtually “cut off” by Ukrainian attacks, the Financial Times reports

On October 30, the Murmansk Commercial Sea Port said a test shipment of 29,500 tons of grain was being assembled for export to North African countries. However, alternative routes will not replace the southern ports, the FT writes.

According to Arkady Zlochevsky, president of the Russian Grain Union, Baltic terminals will be able to compensate for no more than half of the lost shipping volumes through the Black and Azov seas by the end of the year.
