“I'm fucking sick of all this already, for fuck's sake! It's messing with my head. I don't even understand what's going on anymore, who the fuck knows. Fuck, there are six of us waiting for at least one fucking package. And not a fucking thing, fuck!”
A brief look at supplies for Russian assault troops on the front line, in an intercept released by Ukrainian intelligence.
On the third day of being told “tomorrow” by his comrades, a Russian serviceman with the call sign “Ruble” from the 1st Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of Russia's 51st Army began to suspect something was wrong. He and five other soldiers are stuck at a position without food or water, reliant on packages dropped by drones for supplies. There's just one problem: the much-awaited “birds” haven't arrived for several days.
“Ruble” lost his temper and told his commanders everything that had been building up. In response, they complained about their workload and the bad weather. Naturally, he was once again promised that everything would be sent soon, but we know that's not true. Many Russian infantrymen taken prisoner complain that they have to forage for food for weeks and sometimes even months(!), and occasionally drink their own urine.
This could be explained by the difficulties of logistics in combat conditions, but in most cases Russians don't give a damn about their own. Assault troops are sent on one-way missions anyway. Why waste aircraft and supplies on them? They'll just send new ones later.
