“There will be local disruptions” — oil and gas market consultant on Russia’s fuel situation
Independent oil and gas market consultant Boris Aronshtein believes there will be no repeat of the summer fuel crisis, although local disruptions are possible.
On the one hand, Russia will consume less gasoline and diesel. But on the other hand, there is a great need, a great demand for so-called winter and Arctic grades of diesel fuel. There will certainly be some local disruptions,
Aronshtein said on TV Rain.
The expert noted that Russian oil refineries have learned to repair primary processing equipment quickly. However, he said, Ukrainian forces have begun attacking secondary processing units, including those involved in diesel production.
Aronshtein also expressed doubt about reports that some refineries had deliberately delayed repairs. Agreements to supply Russian diesel to the United States, he said, cannot yet be considered implemented.
