St. Petersburg’s Primorsky District Court granted a lawsuit filed by Rosimushchestvo and ordered journalist Alexander Nevzorov, his wife, son, and 83-year-old mother-in-law to be evicted from their former home in the settlement of Lisy Nos in the north of the city. The court ruled that they had lost the right to use the house and removed them from the residence register.
In December 2024, a St. Petersburg court ordered the seizure for the benefit of the state of a plot of land and a house in Lisy Nos that belonged to Nevzorov’s mother-in-law, Natalia Kolesnikova. She bought the property from her daughter Lydia in August 2023, but the court deemed the purchase agreement invalid.
Alexander Nevzorov and his wife Lydia left Russia after the start of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war. Nevzorov was subsequently prosecuted in Russia: he was designated a “foreign agent,” sentenced in absentia in a case over “fake news” about the army, and, together with his wife, declared an “extremist association.” Their property in Russia was seized for the benefit of the state.
