Sochi City Hall urged residents and tourists to avoid driving due to fuel shortages

Such measures will help "reduce the load on gas stations and speed up the return to normal operations," the city administration said. If there are lines at gas stations, the authorities warned, motorists must follow traffic rules.

The city authorities issued this appeal after a meeting on the fuel situation. Officials announced that "due to logistical disruptions," major gas station operators had introduced limits on fuel sales. At some stations, "because of the resulting rush," restrictions were introduced on gasoline sales to private individuals.

Russia's fuel crisis has worsened because of Ukraine's strikes on oil facilities. On August 8, Ukrainian drones attacked the Ilsky oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai.

Normal Operations Begin With Not Driving

Sochi tells residents and tourists to drive less because fuel is short.

Normal operations now start with staying off the road.
