The Insider: Russian vessels in the Black Sea have started being protected from drones with nets and camouflage from the world wars

In Istanbul, the “shadow fleet” tanker CARUZO carrying a million barrels of Russian oil was spotted. Its superstructure was covered with netting, and metal cages were hung near the engine room — presumably to protect against underwater and aerial drones.

Another Russian vessel, MECHTA S, was painted in camouflage from the world wars. As the outlet writes, this paint scheme distorts the ship’s silhouette, which may make it harder to aim at the target.
