A case for rehabilitating Nazism has been opened against Sasha Dolgopolov

Update. A court in Moscow has ordered Dolgopolov's arrest in absentia in the case on rehabilitating Nazism.

A motion for the arrest in absentia of comedian Sasha Dolgopolov has been filed with Moscow's Tagansky Court, writes Mediazona. The case against him was opened under the article on rehabilitating Nazism. Earlier, the prosecutor's office had demanded that such a case be opened.

One of the comedian's performances became the grounds for the case. The agency claims that during a stand-up set, Dolgopolov "made a statement" allegedly aimed at insulting the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland. It does not specify which exact "statement" is at issue.

The Telegram channel Baza, which is close to the security forces, claimed that the case was prompted by Dolgopolov's joke about how he walks around Berlin. "Sometimes I walk around Berlin and think: 'Wow, they killed my grandfather,'" the outlet quotes the comedian as saying.

Mediazona suggested that it was about a concert published on the comedian's channel in December 2024.
