“We proved with absolute certainty that there were not the slightest grounds for removing us.” Yabloko filed an appeal against the Supreme Court’s decision to remove the party from the elections

Yabloko chairman Nikolai Rybakov filed an appeal with the Supreme Court against the decision to remove the party’s federal list from the State Duma elections. He made a statement to journalists and party supporters, saying he was confident of a positive outcome in the case:

We proved with absolute certainty that there were no grounds whatsoever, not even the slightest, on any count, for removing Yabloko. All of this was made up. And we will continue proving that in every way we can within the framework of Russian law.

He added that “in the government bodies, in the law enforcement system, in the judicial system, there are normal people who want to live, love, enjoy life, rather than be in conflict and risk their lives every day, because they could die, and nobody wants that.”

Rybakov also confirmed that Yabloko will file a lawsuit against Rodina for defamation.

UPD: The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation has accepted Yabloko’s complaint over its removal from the elections for consideration. Earlier, the party said that the complaint would be heard at 10:00 on August 17.
