The head of A Just Russia called members of United Russia “extremists”

The head of A Just Russia, Sergei Mironov, at a meeting with St. Petersburg candidates called the persecution of activist Yaroslav Kostrov “lawless arbitrariness.”

He said that he had prepared documents with links to social networks banned in Russia belonging to United Russia candidates and promised to pass them on to the “right people,” stressing that the law must be the same for everyone:

If Yaroslav Kostrov is an extremist, then members of United Russia are extremists too. The ones climbing into power. Extremists under the mask of United Russia. Such legal lawlessness in the city that is the president’s birthplace.

🔵Activist Yaroslav Kostrov intended to get into the St. Petersburg city parliament from the A Just Russia party. He was included in the unified party list, and on July 13 that list was certified by the city election commission. Kostrov also wanted to become the party’s candidate in single-member district No. 1. However, on July 13 he was detained by police officers.

A protocol was drawn up against him under the article on the “display of extremist symbols.” The reason was links to Facebook and Instagram in a 2021 campaign leaflet, a photograph of which was posted in a VKontakte group.
