Binance handed a Russian man’s transaction history to law enforcement. Now he is being tried for donations to Ukrainian organizations

Crypto exchange Binance handed over the personal data and transaction history of IT specialist Yury Belenky to Russia. In October 2025, he was charged with “financing terrorism” over donations to Ukrainian organizations, the “First Department” said.

Yury Belenky is a Russian citizen with a residence permit in Bulgaria. Upon arriving in Russia, Belenky was detained at Sheremetyevo Airport and arrested for “petty hooliganism.” Then, after being released from the special detention center, the man was detained again for “financing terrorism.”

Citing criminal cases under the “terrorism” article, the Investigative Committee sent a request to Binance demanding information about users who transferred funds to a crypto wallet published by journalist Arkady Babchenko.

Belenky is accused of transferring 742.26 USDT (about 60,000 rubles) to the Ukrainian military and the Azov structure.
