On August 17, the Supreme Court upheld the decision to bar the Yabloko party from this year’s State Duma elections. That day, police detained more than 80 people outside the Supreme Court; adults were released from police stations within a couple of hours, while the rest had to wait for older relatives.

Bereg, a cooperative of independent journalists, spoke with young anti-war Russians who until the very last moment believed they would be able to vote for a party with the slogan “For Peace” — among them were some of those detained. Meduza is publishing this piece in full.
