"Get all traitors out." Ella Pamfilova proposed stripping Russians who left the country of the right to vote in elections
The head of the Central Election Commission said this in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda radio in response to a question about whether it is right that people with the status of “foreign agent” retain active voting rights.
“I believe that if you left the country, betrayed the country, then get out. That is my position. We have the most liberal legislation on voting abroad. And here, I believe, we need to restore order.”
According to Pamfilova, law enforcement agencies can identify a broad category of citizens who could be “deprived in the future of the right to determine Russia’s fate, including by voting.”
Exactly how this will happen may be decided by the new composition of the State Duma, Pamfilova said.
