Retired FSB Major General Igor Laptev died by suicide in Moscow, Moskovsky Komsomolets reports, citing sources.
The body of the 83-year-old man was found the day before in an apartment on Verkhnyaya Krasnoselskaya Street.
Laptev took part in combat operations in Afghanistan. He then served in the FSB, where he dealt with information security issues. In the late 1990s, he worked as deputy minister for taxes and levies. He later became chairman of the board of directors of the Informtekhnika group of companies
