Ukraine says that North Korea has sent another 8,500 troops to Russia

CNN cites these figures, attributed to Major General Vadym Skibitskyi, deputy head of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR).

According to him, the North Korean forces include a UAV operator unit capable of attacking targets on Ukrainian territory.

🔵North Korea first sent its servicemen to Russia in October 2024. For a long time, the country stayed silent about this, and only in April 2025 did it confirm that its soldiers were fighting against Ukraine. Estimates said that 10,000 North Koreans had been sent to Russia, and the country suffered heavy losses.

🔵Vadym Skibitskyi claims that North Korea, which signed a mutual defense pact with Russia, could allocate up to 50,000 more troops to Russia. Earlier, Kim Jong Un’s sister Kim Yo Jong called this information “groundless.”
