German authorities are considering the possibility of imposing sanctions against the Russian House in Berlin

Termination of the agreement governing the activities of the Russian House in Berlin is no longer considered taboo, the Spiegel article says.

The trigger for possible sanctions was an incident at Leipzig airport: at the beginning of August, a drone with a detonator was found next to Ukrainian cargo planes there.

🔵Earlier, German media reported that the German authorities are “comprehensively and continuously” reviewing the international legal basis for the Russian House’s activities.

It was then reported that Germany’s Foreign Ministry feared that closing the center could lead to retaliatory measures against Goethe Institutes in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
