Putin kept Alexander Bastrykin as head of the Investigative Committee for another year
The Russian president’s order says that Bastrykin’s term of state service has been extended until August 27, 2027.
Bastrykin has headed the Investigative Committee since 2011. He will turn 73 on August 27. Under the law “On the Investigative Committee,” the maximum age for service in the Investigative Committee is 65, but it can be extended to 70 “by decision of the руководитель.” In 2024, Putin signed a law allowing himself to extend the head of the Investigative Committee’s term of service even after age 70.

Age Limits By Personal Decision
Bastrykin got another term past seventy after the limit was rewritten for him.
The law handled staffing again.
