A test version of the “enemies of the people” register has appeared on the Justice Ministry website. It will include critics of the authorities who are being prosecuted in absentia in Russia

As Meduza previously wrote, this register is effectively a kind of “enemies of the people” list. It was supposed to appear after the law stripping critics of the authorities of their rights, when they are being prosecuted in absentia in Russia, came into force. Vladimir Putin signed this law on August 4, and the provision took effect the same day.

So far, the register contains only one name: the fictional 25-year-old Pyotr Petrovich Petrov, born in Novosibirsk. It is noted that he was “entered” into the register on the basis of the administrative article on violating the procedure for the activities of a “foreign agent” (Article 19.34 of the Administrative Code).

Judging by the test version, in addition to full name, date, and place of birth, the Justice Ministry plans to list the taxpayer identification number, SNILS, and also the number of a special ruble account into which the Russian income of a person placed on the list will be forcibly credited.
