A court in Russia sentenced a 70-year-old Ukrainian woman to 15 years in a penal colony in a treason case

The 1st Appellate Court in Moscow upheld the sentence of 70-year-old Zaporizhzhia region resident of Ukraine Svitlana Loy in a state treason case, Mediazona reported.

According to the investigation’s version, from January to November 2024 Svitlana Loy made 24 money transfers to the Ukrainian Armed Forces through the mobile app of a Ukrainian bank in hryvnias for an amount equivalent to 63.4 thousand rubles.

In February, a Russia-controlled court sentenced the woman to 15 years in a general-regime penal colony. The press service statement said that Loy “held anti-Russian views,” despite having received a Russian passport in December 2023.
