Talks About Important Saints: children will be told about the heavenly patrons of the army and military priests. One of them urged people to have more children for the needs of the front

The Ministry of Education has expanded the military and religious section in “Important Conversations,” “MO” noticed. In the program for the 2026–2027 school year, a whole series of classes has appeared about warrior saints, patrons of various силовые structures, and front-line priests

⛪️ “It hurts less when you have many children”: a radical priest killed in the “SMO” has been made the model. A separate class for students in grades 6–11 will be devoted to Archpriest Mikhail Vasilyev — rector of the church at the Strategic Missile Forces headquarters and a military priest killed in Ukraine in November 2022. He is presented as a man who (from the other world) supports fighters, helps them overcome fear, and reminds them of duty, comradeship, and love for the Motherland. Teachers may possibly recall Vasilyev’s most famous statement: on the air of the Spas TV channel, he advised women to have more children so that, in his words, it would be “less painful and frightening for them to part” with sons who are sent to the front. In the teaching guide, he appears alongside Ilya Muromets (pictured).

☦️ Schoolchildren are being offered at least five separate lessons connected with Orthodox history and church figures. The heroes are Prince Vladimir, who baptized Rus; Princess Olga, who is associated with the “formation of the country’s spiritual tradition”; the holy martyr Princess Elizaveta Fyodorovna — as an example of rejecting “material well-being” (without mentioning that she was brutally murdered by the Bolsheviks); and surgeon-bishop Luka Voyno-Yasenetsky, in whose figure they propose seeing the “unity of science and faith.” This line ends with military priest Mikhail Vasilyev — a model of duty, military tradition, and “responsibility for the fate of the country.”

⚔️ The military-patriotic section has expanded by about two times. The program orients children toward readiness for self-sacrifice starting in first grade: in the class “Everything for the Front! Everything for Victory!” children are told that the strength of the people was manifested in their readiness to sacrifice themselves for the common cause.

📝 Schools were advised to keep track of the dissenters. After the classes, teachers are advised to record whether children showed “misunderstanding or disagreement with the value guidelines” — and how such situations were “resolved.” School administrations are being encouraged to assess the “positive dynamics” in the formation of students’ value orientations, and to involve parents in a “post-conversation” — continuing discussion of the topics at home, in the format “Me with Family.”
