Pashinyan explained why Armenia no longer considers Russia a “strategic ally”
The Armenian prime minister said this at a briefing on Thursday, the News-Armenia agency reports.
He was commenting on the fact that the approved 2026–2031 government program states that Armenia intends to transform and deepen its partnership relations with Russia, but does not mention it as a “strategic ally.”
“Everything happened before your eyes. If I write ‘strategic partnership,’ then you will ask: ‘What happened in September 2022? Didn’t the CSTO and Russia fail to fulfill their obligations in the field of security?’ They did not fulfill them. What am I supposed to answer?” Nikol Pashinyan noted.
🔵In September 2022, clashes took place on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border, during which the Azerbaijani armed forces opened fire on Armenian territory. In particular, Armenian positions near the cities of Vardenis, Goris, Sotk, and Jermuk were attacked.
