Digital Development Minister Maksut Shadayev will leave the ministry after the State Duma elections. The new head of the Digital Development Ministry may be his deputy, who went to war as a volunteer, Post reports
This was reported to the outlet by a source in the government apparatus and confirmed by a source in the Presidential Administration.
“Most likely, the ministerial change will take place after the elections. The plan is for Maksut Igorevich to move to the State Duma and take the position of head of the Committee on Information Policy, Technologies and Communications, which is currently held by Sergei Boyarsky,” a Post source in the government apparatus said.
According to the outlet’s sources in the Presidential Administration and the government, the main candidate to replace the current minister is Deputy Digital Development Minister Andrei Zarenin, who, as Kommersant wrote, signed a contract with the Defense Ministry and went to the war with Ukraine.
“His name is mentioned most often as a candidate for the post of head of the Digital Development Ministry. He has been a deputy since 2021. And he came to the ministry more than ten years ago: he started in the department for the development of electronic state and municipal services back under Nikiforov. From a professional point of view, he is the ideal candidate, but the question is whether he has enough bureaucratic weight to be appointed minister,” the outlet’s source in the Presidential Administration said.
