Canada has lifted sanctions on former Rusnano head Chubais

This was reported by the country’s official government gazette, Canada Gazette. Anatoly Chubais was removed from the sanctions list because there were “reasonable grounds” for doing so, it says.

“Although lifting these prohibitions theoretically allows Anatoly Chubais to do business with Canadians and vice versa, it is unknown whether he will in fact take part in any such transactions,” the publication says.

He was also allowed to enter the country. The economist, official, and former head of Rusnano was placed on Canada’s sanctions list in 2025.

Sanctions Expire on Reasonable Grounds

Canada removed Chubais from sanctions and allowed him back into the country.

Reasonable grounds turned out stronger than the sanctions.
