The government plans to cap gasoline prices. This could make supplies to shortage-hit regions unprofitable

The government is preparing measures to control the fuel market, including setting indicative prices and tightening oversight of fuel costs, Kommersant writes.

According to the newspaper, the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the Energy Ministry, and oil companies have been instructed to determine benchmark prices for Euro-2, Euro-3, and Euro-4 fuel by individual region.

To do this, the agencies will have to prepare proposals to increase sales volumes of such fuel on the St. Petersburg Exchange and “pay special attention” to imported fuel.
