When Will Russia Run Out of Gasoline? Economists Sergey Vakulenko and Vyacheslav Shiryaev debated how large-scale the fuel crisis is
Sergey Vakulenko, a fellow at the Berlin Carnegie Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies, and economic commentator Vyacheslav Shiryaev held a debate in which they discussed the situation with oil refining in Russia.
The reason was their disagreement over how Ukrainian drone strikes on oil refineries affected the industry across Russia. Vakulenko argues that oil refining fell by only 25-28%. Shiryaev is convinced that 65-70% of oil refining in Russia has been destroyed. He considers Vakulenko’s estimates “nonsense.”
