Kyrylo Budanov said that he regularly spoke with Yevgeny Prigozhin

The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, said in an interview with The New York Times that while working at the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) of Ukraine's Defense Ministry, he regularly spoke with Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of the Wagner PMC.

According to Budanov, his contacts with Prigozhin ended shortly before the Wagner PMC mutiny. Budanov did not disclose any other details of his talks with the PMC chief.

Previously, it had not been officially reported that Budanov and Prigozhin had any contact in any form.

In 2023, sources cited by The Washington Post reported that Prigozhin had offered HUR representatives a deal: in exchange for the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from around Bakhmut, he promised to provide information on the locations of Russian troops that Ukraine could use to attack them.
