The Kremlin Admitted It Has Not Returned to India All Indian Citizens Who Signed Contracts With the Russian Army

Original source

The Kremlin admitted that it has not returned to India all of the country’s citizens who signed contracts with the Russian army.

“Putin’s mouthpiece” Dmitry Peskov said that “work is now underway on a list of Indians who are at the front”:

“As soon as their identities are established, they will be sent home. We are maintaining very close contact with the Indian side on this issue”

Peskov’s candor is easy to explain. The BRICS summit starts in the coming days, where his boss is due to meet Indian Prime Minister Modi. Back in 2024, Modi issued Putin an ultimatum, demanding that all recruited Indians be released, returned home, and that the recruitment practice be stopped. The Kremlin met the demands, but not completely (as if it could be otherwise!). But Moscow’s dependence on its southern partners does not allow it to ignore the problem or openly lie to Indians to their faces.

By the way, the Russian side can use our help in identifying the Indian citizens it recruited. They can review the list we previously published of mercenaries from that country and speed up the process.

According to India’s Foreign Ministry, about two dozen more Indians continue to serve in the Russian army, and New Delhi hopes for their swift return home. Earlier, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that at least 51 citizens of the country who had signed contracts with the Russian army had died in the war against Ukraine. In total, according to the Indian government, Russians recruited 227 Indians, of whom 139 were able to leave the occupation army.

☝️We have already written more than once about what awaits foreigners who fall for Russian recruiters’ fairy tales about jobs or huge payouts. In short, nothing good. The situation for mercenaries is not changing: if you want to survive, contact “I Want to Live.”
