In Novosibirsk Region, an “SVO” participant pardoned for murdering his relative returned from the war and killed that relative’s father

A court in Novosibirsk Region sentenced Ukraine war participant Vladislav Pershin to 8 years and 9 months in a penal colony after he returned from the front and beat his first cousin twice removed to death. “Vyorstka” found the relevant ruling in the court’s case database.

According to the document, this was already the third criminal case for the 26-year-old Novosibirsk resident. In 2018, while still a minor, he “committed the murder of two people as part of a group.” One of those killed was Pershin’s first cousin once removed. For that, the Novosibirsk resident was sentenced to 9 years and 6 months of imprisonment.

In 2023, Pershin was recruited from prison into the Wagner PMC and went to war, and by March 2024 he had received a pardon. In early 2026, Pershin committed a second murder. The verdict says that on January 6, the man was drinking with relatives. Among them was the Novosibirsk resident’s first cousin twice removed (the father of Pershin’s first cousin once removed, who had been killed in 2018); during the gathering, he began recalling the murder of his son.

“He (Pershin) asked him to calm down, since earlier, after his return from the Wagner PMC, they had already discussed this issue and reached a peaceful settlement, shook hands and decided that no one bore a grudge against anyone,” the verdict says.

According to Pershin, his relative would not calm down, so he knocked him to the floor and began beating him. While giving testimony, the Novosibirsk resident noted that when striking with his left foot, he felt pain, because it “has no big toe, which he lost while in the SVO zone.” In total, Pershin struck the deceased 21 times.

As a result, a murder case was opened against the Novosibirsk resident. The court sentenced him to 8 years and 9 months in a strict-regime penal colony. In issuing the ruling, the judge took into account Pershin’s positive character reference “from his place of service in the Wagner PMC.”
