Russian citizen gets 14 years in a penal colony in treason case over photographs of soldiers’ graves

The Yaroslavl Regional Court sentenced local resident Nikolai Shcherbakov to 14 years in a penal colony in a treason case over photographs of soldiers’ graves. This is the first known case of a sentence for photographing soldiers’ graves.

According to investigators, Shcherbakov regularly went to a memorial cemetery for “covert photo and video recording of servicemen’s burial sites” and sent the materials to Ukrainian intelligence services.

💜Earlier, “Vyorstka” reported that since 2022, criminal prosecution for treason and espionage has become widespread. Hundreds of Russians are detained every year on such charges.
