Crimea’s tourism industry losses nearly doubled in six months and exceeded 4 billion rubles

Losses in the tourism industry in Russian-annexed Crimea amounted to more than 4 billion rubles in January-June 2026, according to Rosstat data on the peninsula’s socioeconomic situation, which Verstka drew attention to.

Over the first six months of 2026, losses among organizations in the “tourism” sector grew by 95.7% compared with the same period in 2025. The peak of financial losses came in May, when unprofitability increased by almost 850 million rubles in a single month.

Tourism companies’ profit turned out to be 2.5 times lower than a year earlier. In January-June 2026, the tourism industry earned 530 million rubles. In the same period of 2025, profit had been almost 1.3 billion.

Official statistics show that in July 2026, tour operators in Crimea provided almost 55% fewer paid services than in July 2025, while tour operators in Sevastopol provided almost 73% fewer. The volume of paid services provided by hotels in Crimea fell by 74% compared with last year, and in Sevastopol by 10%.

🟦The drop in tourism industry revenue in Crimea came amid mass cancellations of purchased travel packages. Due to increasingly frequent Ukrainian Armed Forces shelling, the tourist season on the peninsula has seen problems with electricity and water supply, as well as a gasoline shortage.
