A GRU special forces soldier surrendered with the help of the “I Want to Live” project!
Hundreds of Russian servicemen of all kinds have already gone through our project, but representatives of the Russian special services do not surrender every day. Especially intelligence officers! Naturally, we could not avoid telling this extraordinary story.
A serviceman from one of the special-purpose units of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces (formerly the GRU) decided he had had enough after his group was ground down in a pointless assault on one Ukrainian village: losses amounted to 70% killed. The “elite” of the Russian army was thrown away like ordinary “disposable” assault troops:
“When I saw the settlement that so many people had died for, I realized it was inexpedient and completely pointless. It looks more like some kind of hidden genocide of the male population”
The special forces soldier had few options for “getting out”: AWOL, death, or captivity. For fleeing or consciously refusing to fight, he would have been sent not to prison but into assault units, or simply “zeroed out.” Scrolling through TikTok, the guy saw a link to our chatbot and wrote to us. The rest was a matter of technique.
In today’s Russian army, literally everyone has a chance of dying ingloriously for the ruins of some “money-village.” The “Motherland” has made sure of that. Ukraine, meanwhile, has made sure everyone has a chance to be saved, regardless of rank, position, or branch of service.
