The White House announced Russia’s participation in the G20 energy summit
The meeting of G20 energy ministers on energy issues will take place September 14-16 in Houston, Texas.
A Reuters source among White House officials did not say who exactly would represent Russia. Representatives of the energy sector from Europe and Asia are also expected to take part.
In late August, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov personally attended a G20 summit for the first time since the start of the war. The meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors from G20 member countries also took place in the United States.
The summit will take place against the backdrop of reports that the European Union is lagging behind its plan to phase out Russian oil and gas, Ukraine’s calls for an energy ceasefire ahead of winter, and rising fuel prices caused by the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
