Peru’s Prosecutor’s Office warns: do not believe offers of “work” in Russia.

Peru’s Prosecutor’s Office is investigating 22 criminal cases connected to the recruitment of the country’s citizens through fake job offers in Russia.

According to the agency, more than 300 people have already been affected. One of the investigations includes 202 victims at once. The cases are being handled by specialized units investigating human trafficking and organized crime. Recruiters promise high pay, help with documents, paid flights, and supposedly legal work in Russia. But in reality, such promises end with people being sent into assaults.

That is why Peru’s Prosecutor’s Office is separately urging citizens not to trust messages about “work in Russia” with high earnings and promises to resolve all issues with documents and travel.

We are also seeing the rise in the number of citizens from Latin American countries who have signed contracts with the Russian Armed Forces through the growing number of prisoners of war from among residents of the region. Including from Peru.
