A criminal case has been opened against Noize MC for “justifying terrorism”

According to prosecutors, the musician “publicly justified terrorist ideology” and spoke positively about the activities of an organization recognized as terrorist in Russia during a concert outside Russia. “Mediazona” noticed the agency’s statement. At the same time, prosecutors did not specify which performance or which organization they were referring to.

▶️ How Russian authorities are persecuting Noize MC

After Russia began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Noize MC spoke out against the war and left the country. Together with singer Monetochka, he held charity concerts where they raised money for humanitarian aid for residents of Ukraine.

In November 2022, the Justice Ministry added Alekseyev to the “foreign agents” registry. The ministry claimed that the musician was engaged in “political activity” and received funding from Ukraine.

In June 2023, the musician was fined 30,000 rubles over the absence of “foreign agent” labeling on two posts in his VKontakte public page. The musician’s defense pointed out that the posts had not been published by Alekseyev himself, but by his PR manager, and that the group Noize MC had not been designated a “foreign agent.”

In November of the same year, the musician was given another 30,000-ruble fine, this time because he had not submitted a “foreign agent” activity report to the Justice Ministry. In April 2024, Alekseyev was fined again for lacking “foreign agent” labeling, this time 50,000 rubles. And in November 2024, Moscow’s Tverskoy District Court fined Noize MC another 50,000 rubles under the administrative article on “discrediting” the Russian army (Part 1 of Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). The reason was a post by Alekseyev in which the musician wished Ukraine victory in the war.
