Better die like a “hero” than surrender! But before that, don’t forget to give all your money to your commander.

That, in short, is how one can describe what three Russian servicemen faced in their unit after surrendering to assault troops of the Freedom of Russia Legion. Their commanders extorted money for any reason and for no reason, abused their subordinates, and forbade the evacuation of the wounded. The soldiers were simply being “ripped off”: commanders took money in exchange for not sending them into assaults, but almost immediately threw them into battle anyway or transferred them to another “meat” unit.

What Russia calls the “special military operation” has long since turned into a senseless meat grinder for some and a way for others to make money off it. All the lawlessness described in the video is not an isolated case, but a system. Rotten, misanthropic. A real GULAG inside the GULAG.
