That is how Russian propagandist Anastasia Kashevarova writes about Anton Grunis, commander of the 4th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces (military unit 40318), who was eliminated by pilots of the “Rarog” brigade. The very same “fighter against fake reports” who reported to Pal Laich about the “capture of Kostiantynivka” in July 2026, although fighting for the city is still ongoing.

Well, that is the person’s job: using pompous words to call black white, glorifying cannibals and mass murderers. We will leave the pompous speeches to the propagandist and turn to the facts about exactly whom the Z-corner is mourning.

Here is a named list of 3,871 killed and missing servicemen of the 4th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade in 2023, 2024, and 2025. It does not include attached units, the wounded, prisoners of war, those recorded as having gone AWOL, or those “zeroed out.” It does not include those killed or missing in 2022 and 2026. But even here there are already 3,871 people. In other words, compared with its prewar strength, Grunis’s brigade effectively completely renewed its personnel over these years:

Maybe these sacrifices at least brought the Russian army some significant conquests? The combat path of the 4th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade under Grunis’s command is not very long, if measured in kilometers.

In 2023, the brigade fought in the area of Klishchiivka. Since then, the Russian Armed Forces have advanced from the village by as much as 14 kilometers.

Then the brigade was transferred to the Kurdyumivka area, where for two years it died in battles for Diliivka and then for Kostiantynivka.

In three years of fighting, the Russian army under the command of such a “marshal of victory” advanced by about 18 kilometers from Diliivka toward Kostiantynivka. For comparison: an ordinary snail would crawl 95 kilometers in the same three years.

We will not dwell too much on how Grunis’s brigade zeroes out its own people, keeps people in pits, and drives the wounded and not fully recovered into assaults — this is normal for the Russian Armed Forces, and the relatives of the brigade’s soldiers have already told everything themselves.

Grunis is merely another example of how Soviet-Russian propaganda molds “heroes” out of outright butchers. Out of those who never spare their own soldiers and for whom the absence of losses means someone was not fighting. The entire Russian pantheon of heroes consists of people with rivers of blood on their hands.
