Artist from Rybinsk sentenced to eight years for transfers to Vyacheslav Maltsev

Sixty-two-year-old artist and local historian Alexei Orleansky was sentenced to eight years in prison in a case on financing terrorism, Memorial reports. According to the prosecution, he transferred 23,000 rubles to Vyacheslav Maltsev, an opposition politician and founder of Artpodgotovka, which is banned in Russia.

Orleansky says in an FSB video.

Orleansky graduated from the Palekh Art School. He designed books and calendars, produced postcards about Rybinsk, and created decks of playing cards. Their characters include heroes from Pushkin and Gogol, Russian tsars, and characters from Soviet cinema.
