The U.S. State Department approved the possible sale of air defense systems to Ukraine worth

.68 billion, according to a statement from the department. The agreement provides for the purchase of air defense modernization equipment and related hardware.

If the deal is concluded, Ukraine will finance the purchase using contributions provided by European countries and funds from the U.S. Foreign Military Financing (FMF) program allocated by the previous U.S. administration.
