“Fucking insane” and other threats against observers and candidates. The third day of voting

The third — and final — day of voting has begun in Russia. We report on what is happening at polling stations and around them.

Detentions

▶️ In Leningrad Oblast, a young woman who had earlier been barred from observing the election was detained. She was at the polling station as a voter when she was taken to a police vehicle.

▶️ In Novosibirsk, a local resident with a poster about the “illusion of choice” was detained near a polling station. She was taken to a police department.

▶️ In Perm, police detained an observer from New People at a polling station. The reason was a summons from the military enlistment office where he had failed to appear. Officers spoke with him at the station and released him.

▶️ In Ufa, police detained two observers after they refused to leave the polling station when ordered to do so. They were taken to the police.

Threats against observers

▶️ In St. Petersburg, an observer was forbidden from filming ballots, grabbed by the arms, and threatened. “If you bring that phone near me one more time, I’ll just throw it away,” the chair threatened, and accused the woman of allegedly being drunk.

▶️ In Nizhny Novgorod, an observer from Yabloko reported a conflict with “athletes” near a polling station. According to him, after complaints about violations, a young man approached him, asked for a cigarette, and then, together with other men, accused the observer of insulting him.

▶️ In Vladimir, security officers are following an observer from Yabloko and threatening him with a “court order removing him from the polling station.” Earlier, suspiciously high turnout was recorded at this polling station — around 25%, compared with average turnout at neighboring stations of about 10–13%.

▶️ In Moscow’s Lyublino district, an observer was called “fucking insane” because she wanted to be the last to leave the precinct election commission. In addition, she was forbidden from filming, threatened with a complaint against her, and was not given a copy of the act for today.

Signs of ballot stuffing

▶️ In Moscow Oblast, observers reported that observers and a member of the territorial commission were denied access to precinct election commissions, that filming was banned, and that there were signs of overnight ballot stuffing.

Surveillance of candidates and slashed tires

▶️ Communist Party candidate Bair Tsyrenov said that yesterday he was followed by a car all day. The surveillance stopped after the candidate contacted the police.

▶️ Communist Party observers in Buryatia report that unknown people punctured all four tires on their car. Before that, a hotel in the same district refused to accommodate the observers without giving any reason.
