Turnout in State Duma elections exceeded 50%

Russia’s Central Election Commission published these figures as of 13:40 Moscow time on September 20.

More than 3.5 million people, or 88.17% of those who registered for it, took part in the elections using remote electronic voting (DEG).

For comparison, during the previous State Duma elections in 2021, according to official data, 51.72% of voters took part over all three days of voting.

As Meduza previously noted, official turnout in the first two days of the State Duma elections, September 18 and 19, was 44.38%. The Russian authorities managed to achieve these results thanks to remote electronic voting and corporate mobilization.

A political strategist working with the presidential administration told Meduza that he expects turnout in the current elections to be “60% or more.” A source close to the political bloc gave a more general forecast: “More than 50%.”
