The third day of State Duma elections. What is happening

✹ The main day of the three-day State Duma election voting has begun. Opposition representatives had earlier called for an anti-war action on September 20 — and for people to vote exactly at 12:00. Despite that call, as Meduza confirmed, there are no lines outside polling stations in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Agentstvo reports a line outside one polling station in New Moscow.

✹ On the night of September 20, Ukraine carried out a massive strike on Russian regions, with Moscow as the main target of the attack. Despite this, Moscow authorities said the city’s elections are proceeding “as normal.” In the Moscow region, a member of an election commission was wounded.

✹ By 12:00 Moscow time, the independent election monitoring platform “Elections 2026 — observing together!” had received about 800 complaints, one in three of them concerning violations of observers’ rights.

✹ Most polling stations abroad have opened. In total, 313 polling stations are operating in 152 countries.
