The Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated a Russian corrupt official.

Konstantin Polezhayev, the former mayor of Belgorod who had been convicted of taking a bribe, was killed in Belgorod region.

In 2023, he was dismissed from his post as deputy governor, and soon afterward he was detained in a bribery case.

In August 2024, Polezhayev was sentenced to five years in a high-security penal colony and fined 36 million rubles. In addition to the bribe, the court found him guilty of laundering budget funds.

To avoid prison, Polezhayev signed a contract with the Russian Defense Ministry. The idea was this: the 54-year-old official with connections would land a rear-position job in BARS and calmly serve alongside Kadyrov’s men in Belgorod bars.

The plan almost worked, and Polezhayev lived several times longer than an ordinary Russian soldier. But even a rear-area rat with its snout in the trough was eventually caught by a Ukrainian drone.

We are not gloating. This is a reminder to ordinary Russian men who have been grabbed by the police or are being hounded by bailiffs. This moneybag could not survive even while staying in the rear. So what chance is there of staying alive as an assault trooper in a Storm Z unit?
