On the evening of September 23, a Starlink satellite communications ground station caught fire in Poland, located in the village of Wola Krobowska in Masovian Voivodeship (less than 50 kilometers from Warsaw). The fire destroyed the distribution board to which the antennas were connected.
Polish special services believe the fire was the result of arson, RMF24 writes. According to sources, a bottle containing flammable liquid, resembling a “Molotov cocktail,” was found near the distribution board.
Polish Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk said that “wherever suspicious arsons occur, we must assume by default that we are dealing with possible sabotage or subversion.” According to him, Russia “uses fairly simple methods — they commit arson and acts of sabotage, provoking social instability across Europe.”
Digital Affairs Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski believes the fire may have been a deliberate attempt to disrupt the operation of the station, which supports internet service in Ukraine.
