The US is proposing three steps to de-escalate the war in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in an interview with Axios.

The Trump administration is insisting on three immediate steps, he noted: a ceasefire covering energy infrastructure facilities, the resumption of the Black Sea grain corridor, and a trilateral meeting between the US, Russia, and Ukraine. Abu Dhabi is being mentioned as a possible venue for such a meeting.

We are open — any country, any format,

Zelensky said.

He also noted that at his meeting with Trump he named the December G20 summit in Miami as another possible venue for a trilateral summit meeting.

There is now a proposal on the table: an energy ceasefire. We are ready,

Axios quotes Zelensky as saying.

The outlet, citing a source, writes that Putin’s special envoy Kirill Dmitriev will arrive in New York on Thursday for a meeting with Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to discuss the latest US proposals.

🔵Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Wednesday after meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that Trump had invited Putin to take part in the G20 summit in Miami. Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov later said the Kremlin was “grateful and appreciative” for the invitation and that the proposal would be “worked through.”

🔵In the Axios interview, Zelensky emphasized that he continues to doubt Putin’s intentions and believes he may find reasons to avoid a trilateral meeting.
