Russia is luring foreigners to war using Meta and Google technologies. In advertisements, they are offered film shoots, security work, or construction jobs

Politico publishes data from a new study by the nonprofit organization Code for Africa.

Recruiters hide behind the guise of an ordinary staffing agency that, using ads on Facebook or Google, can, for example, look for Black men for film shoots. The recruiters target young unemployed men or those with money problems and offer them “a chance to change their life.”

Researchers found 89 websites, seven social media accounts, including on Facebook, and 39 accounts or channels in messengers used in such operations. AI tools from companies in the United States and Sweden were used to create content.

As a result, the war is being sold to Africans, Asians, and Belarusians using tools from the very countries that publicly oppose it,

the researchers note.
