Russia’s Education Ministry is preparing changes to the federal standard and preschool education program, the head of the ministry, Sergey Kravtsov, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Getting acquainted with native culture, literature, customs, and moral guidelines is more important than memorizing letters and numbers in kindergarten. This very emphasis will form the basis of the upcoming changes to the Federal State Educational Standard for preschool education,

the minister said.

According to Kravtsov, kindergarten should remain a space for upbringing, not only for preparing children for school. The minister also said that when addressing educational and upbringing tasks, it is necessary to strengthen the connection with the family — he called this the main condition for “protecting the future of our children.”
