Metro’s Russian assets have been transferred to temporary management
Vladimir Putin signed the corresponding decree.
The assets of the German retail chain Metro in Russia have been transferred to temporary management by the company UK Torg RUS. According to publicly available information, the company was registered on September 8, 2026; its founder and general director is Johannes Tolay, who became head of Metro in Russia in 2022.
🔵The retail chain currently has 91 stores in Russia and employs more than 10,000 people, Vedomosti notes.
🔵On September 17, the Russian assets of Nestle and Auchan, as well as a chain of construction stores that previously operated under the Leroy Merlin brand, were transferred to the temporary management of L.E.V. Management. The firm was registered in October 2024 with charter capital of 15,000 rubles.
🔵Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov explained the transfer of Auchan and Nestle to temporary management by saying that they are companies from “unfriendly countries.”
