The first session of the State Duma’s ninth convocation began today. Representatives of the parties who spoke said they would support the president’s course and do “everything for victory.”

At the same time, Sardana Avksentyeva, a representative of “New People,” said the main test for the convocation would be the budget issue. According to her, during the election campaign Russians were promised mortgages at 3%, increases in pensions and social benefits, but today “there is no money for this,” “Ostorozhno, Novosti” writes.

The increase in utility tariffs will be a difficult issue for the population, Avksentyeva said. “We support the president in saying that tariff growth must be affordable for people,” she said.
