An Activist Who Sought to Hold a Rally Against Election Fraud Has Been Detained in Izhevsk
In Izhevsk, an activist has been detained who sought to hold a rally against election fraud
Dmitry Morozov was detained on the evening of October 2 when he went out to a store, the activist’s father Valery Tsarenko told RusNews.
Today, FSB officers came to their home with attesting witnesses, carried out a search, and seized a computer. Dmitry was brought home for the duration of the search. Valery Tsarenko says his son’s face is scratched and his hands are swollen, possibly from the handcuffs in which Dmitry was kept all night.
According to the Telegram channel, he is being accused of ties to a banned organization. The activist’s father recorded a video address in which he said the detention may be connected to a rally over the election results. Dmitry, according to him, made posters for solo pickets and urged people to come out with them against the voting results. Several people whom he does not personally know came out with posters. According to his father, these people are listed in the register of banned organizations, and now they are trying to attribute ties to them to Dmitry.
Relatives and lawyers do not know where the activist is now.
🔵Dmitry Morozov submitted an application to hold a rally in Izhevsk against election fraud, but the administration refused him, citing the emergency condition of the “Forever with Russia” monument, where the event was proposed to be held.
🔵Together with like-minded people, Morozov filed a lawsuit, and the court ultimately ordered the authorities to reconsider the activists’ application for a rally.
🔵At the same time, communists managed to hold a similar rally today in Tyumen: more than a hundred people came to the Communist Party rally “For Honest Elections” in Komsomolsky Square, the Telegram channel “7x7” writes. Rally participants came out with posters reading “Shame on election falsifiers” and “I demand the abolition of multi-day voting.” They said they disagreed with the voting results and demanded an honest vote count.
