Yandex hid its data centers on maps, one of which was attacked by drones
Yandex has blurred in its mapping service the facilities that house all four Cloud platform data centers, Verstka found.
The hidden data centers are located in Moscow Region (Mytishchi), Ryazan Region (Sasovo), Kaluga Region (Kaluga), and Vladimir Region (Vladimir). Among them is a facility where a fire broke out today as a result of a drone attack.
When the map is viewed in satellite mode, the facilities appear blurred. In addition, when entering the address where they are supposed to be located, the service does not indicate that they are in fact there. It is not known exactly when the facilities were hidden.
At the same time, judging by the maps, other organizations are also located at the sites where the data centers are supposed to be. Yandex provides partial information only about its facility in Kaluga, showing where the checkpoint is located. At the same time, the site’s location is not determined precisely.
🟦After today’s UAV attack on Yandex’s data center in Ryazan Region, it suspended operations. The company called the strike an “incident” that affected part of the facility’s infrastructure; employees are now restoring the affected systems.
